Buy ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies and return to the world of espionage

Buy ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies Steam Altergift Global for PC and experience a narrative RPG built around intrigue, identity and failure. Play as operative Hershel Wilk, rebuild a compromised network of contacts and complete one final mission where every decision can change the outcome.

CASCADE’s final chance after a disastrous mission

Hershel Wilk, known by the codename CASCADE, is a brilliant, troubled and possibly cursed professional. Five years before the beginning of the story, she led her team into a catastrophic mission, losing contacts, credibility and confidence in her own abilities. That failure continues to haunt her, turning every memory into a threat and every new relationship into a potential risk.

When she is recalled for a mysterious assignment, Hershel sees an opportunity to prove that she is still a valuable asset. The mission may allow her to correct the mistakes of the past, but it also forces her back into a world ruled by lies, double-crosses and incompatible political interests. Rebuilding her network means locating former informants, evaluating new alliances and understanding who is truly willing to cooperate.

The story does not portray espionage as an elegant or controlled profession. Being an operative means improvising, lying and continuing even when the original plan has become useless. Players must interpret incomplete information, recognise the hidden motivations of other characters and decide how much they are willing to sacrifice to complete the assignment.

The result is a personal story set within an international crisis, where the protagonist’s redemption and the fate of the mission become inseparable.

An espionage RPG built around dialogue, deduction and deception

The gameplay combines isometric exploration, detailed conversations, skill checks and decisions with lasting consequences. Problems do not always need to be solved through force. An obstacle may be overcome with a convincing cover identity, a correct deduction, psychological manipulation or an unexpected action.

The people Hershel meets do not always provide reliable information. Informants, rivals, foreign agents and political figures have personal objectives that may conflict with hers. A seemingly harmless answer can reveal an important detail, while a question asked too directly may damage a relationship that was difficult to build.

Skill checks determine which clues the operative notices and which strategies she can use. Failing a check does not necessarily end the mission. A negative result may open a different situation, force her to improvise or create consequences that alter later events.

This structure makes every conversation part of the gameplay. Reading carefully, evaluating character behaviour and choosing the right moment to intervene are as important as developing the operative’s statistics.

The RPG therefore rewards curiosity and adaptability. There is not always a perfect solution, and the most effective path may require accepting a compromise, exploiting a lie or turning a mistake into an unexpected opportunity.

Fifteen skills for creating a completely personal operative

The progression system includes fifteen skills representing physical, mental and professional tools. Each ability changes the way Hershel interprets a situation, reacts under pressure and develops her strategy. Improving different skills unlocks new options during conversations, investigations and confrontations.

A build focused on observation may help identify contradictions and suspicious behaviour. A more aggressive approach can provide immediate solutions when diplomacy fails. Other abilities support reflexes, intuition, endurance or the creation of alternative identities.

Skills do not function only as numerical values used during dice rolls. They can intervene inside the protagonist’s mind, suggest interpretations and influence the way players understand the world. Some suggestions may be useful, while others may reflect fears, beliefs or unreliable impulses.

The selected abilities therefore determine what kind of spy CASCADE becomes. Players can create a methodical professional, a manipulator capable of adapting her cover or an operative who relies on instinct and speed.

It is not necessary to excel in every area. Weaknesses contribute to the character’s personality and may generate interesting narrative situations. Alternative paths also prevent a single failed check from completely blocking progression.

Conditioning changes identity, abilities and gameplay rules

Operatives undergo long periods of psychological training to transform the mind into a weapon. This concept is represented by the Conditioning system, which allows players to reorganise Hershel’s deepest thoughts and develop abilities connected to her identity.

A conditioning effect may strengthen almost animal-like reflexes, encourage a philosophical interpretation of events or improve the use of different cover identities. These effects are not limited to increasing a statistic. Some can change gameplay rules, unlock new opportunities or alter the way certain situations are approached.

Character development therefore becomes a psychological process. Players do not simply decide what the protagonist can do, but also which beliefs, behaviours and mental mechanisms should guide her. Changing her mindset can transform the mission and make previously unavailable solutions accessible.

Every choice may also involve a cost. Making Hershel more effective with one strategy could limit other options, while adopting a new way of thinking may influence conversations and relationships.

Conditioning encourages experimentation and increases replay value. Two playthroughs can develop differently even when following the same assignment, because the operative’s identity and abilities affect the information discovered and the available responses.

Pressure, anxiety and fatigue make every risk more dangerous

The Pressures system represents the physical and psychological cost of a field mission. Hershel can push herself beyond her limits to improve the chance of passing a check, but every additional effort may create consequences that are difficult to remove.

Fatigue represents exhaustion accumulated through demanding activities and long periods without recovery. Anxiety reflects the emotional pressure caused by danger, responsibility and traumatic memories. Delirium further alters the perception of reality, making it more difficult to distinguish between intuition, fear and apparently impossible phenomena.

Forcing a dice roll can be useful when a single check determines the future of the mission. However, repeatedly ignoring the protagonist’s condition may cause lasting damage and make later situations more difficult.

Players must therefore decide when to take risks. Consuming physical or mental resources to gain an immediate advantage may leave Hershel vulnerable during a more important confrontation. Preserving her energy, on the other hand, may mean accepting failure and adapting to its consequences.

This balance adds tension to every skill check. Success depends not only on statistics, but also on the ability to judge whether the mission justifies a personal sacrifice. Being an effective spy means understanding your tools and knowing when to stop.

Failure does not end the mission, but changes its direction

Mistakes are a central part of the experience. The operative is not infallible, and the game does not require players to pass every check in order to continue. When a roll produces a negative result, the story may progress through a new complication, a loss of credibility or an improvised solution.

This design reduces the need to reload a save repeatedly in search of the ideal outcome. Failure may reveal an unexpected side of a character, create a new alliance or transform a controlled meeting into a dangerous situation. Even an apparently disastrous choice can become part of a personal and coherent story.

Decisions made during tense encounters continue to matter after the immediate scene. Lying to the wrong person, using violence or compromising an informant may affect the contact network and change the opportunities available later.

Players must learn to react quickly when a plan collapses. Improvisation means using the information available, accepting imperfect outcomes and deciding which consequence will be easier to manage.

This system makes every playthrough less predictable. The objective is not simply to identify the correct answer, but to build a mission through successes, compromises and accidents. The resulting path reflects the personality assigned to the protagonist and the way the player responds to uncertainty.

A city contested by political, cultural and ideological powers

The assignment takes Hershel through a city filled with forgotten places, secrets and conflicts. The setting is not merely a background, but a narrative element with its own trauma, beliefs and mysteries. Exploring districts and hidden environments makes it possible to understand the forces transforming society.

At the centre of the story is a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological control. International organisations, extremist movements and public figures attempt to influence events while the protagonist tries to identify which threat is connected to her mission.

The cast includes international bankers, foreign technofascists, psychic doubles, a paranoid television host and a man with a box instead of a heart. Every character has beliefs, interests and secrets that can be discovered and used.

Not every opponent is immediately recognisable. A helpful person may conceal another objective, while an openly hostile rival could provide decisive information. Evaluating the intentions of others becomes essential when rebuilding CASCADE’s network.

The setting combines political thriller, psychological science fiction and dark comedy. Absurd situations exist alongside serious themes, creating a world where propaganda, technology and personal identity become tools of control.

A narrative adventure designed for multiple playthroughs

The fifteen skills, Conditioning effects and consequences of failure make it possible to approach the story in very different ways. A new playthrough can change the information discovered, the relationships formed and the methods used to complete assignments.

Developing alternative abilities allows players to hear new internal suggestions and access dialogue options that were previously unavailable. The order in which locations are explored may also change the understanding of the conspiracy and the behaviour of the characters encountered.

The title includes a single-player campaign, 55 Steam achievements, Steam Cloud saves, Family Sharing and Remote Play on compatible devices. The interface and subtitles are available in English, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Latin American Spanish. Full voice acting is available in English.

Italian is not listed among the officially supported languages. Before purchasing, consider that understanding English or one of the available languages is particularly important, as dialogue, descriptions and skill checks are fundamental parts of the experience.

The game includes violence, killing, references to sexual activity and the use of illegal substances. Its atmosphere is intended for an adult audience and combines tension, political satire and psychological themes.
