Know the Plot

After learning from Amanda, during the final showdown in Bolivia at the end of Tomb Raider: Legend, that her mother was not dead but was taken to Avalon, Lara decides to pursue leads from a friend of her father. During her search, she finds herself in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea, where she discovers she is in Niflheim, the Norse equivalent of Avalon. Here, Lara makes a pivotal discovery: she finds one of Thor's gauntlets. Upon wearing it, she realizes she is being followed and attacked by some mercenaries. Despite being temporarily incapacitated, Lara manages to recover in time to see Thor's gauntlet being taken away and hears one of the mercenaries mention "Amanda Evert". Later, as the ship sinks, Lara glimpses Amanda futilely attempting to wear the gauntlet, now taking on Lara's hand shape.

Lara deduces that Rutland and Amanda were seeking Avalon on Natla's behalf, who had revealed to Amanda that the stone altar had teleported her mother to Helheim. As the ship sinks, Amanda manages to take Natla away, who in turn reveals that to access Helheim, Thor's hammer is needed.

After a series of adventures, Lara concludes that the second of Thor's gauntlets is hidden at the end of a gallery starting from her grandfather's tomb. Returning to Croft Manor, she finds the gauntlet and a map with the coordinates of Thor's hammer and belt. However, as she exits the tomb, the villa explodes. Lara confronts her alter ego created by Natla, who escapes after injuring Alister. Realizing that the alter ego is Natla's doing, Lara sets off to Mexico in search of Thor's belt.
