About the Product
Build livelier zoos, welcome new species, and take conservation beyond the boundaries of the park
Create an even more realistic and detailed zoo
Planet Zoo 2 is the sequel to Frontier Developments’ acclaimed zoo management game and significantly expands the building, management, and conservation possibilities introduced in the first title.
You can design fully customized zoos across different biomes around the world, creating habitats, guest facilities, paths, and themed areas with a high level of control.
Each species has specific needs related to space, environment, social behavior, and welfare. Animals respond to the world around them with more natural behaviors, more detailed movement, and more convincing expressions.
New features also include more authentic herd behavior and the ability for certain species to graze directly on vegetation inside their habitat.
The objective remains to balance animal welfare, visitor satisfaction, financial sustainability, and conservation, gradually transforming your zoo into an efficient and distinctive facility.
Welcome fully aquatic animals for the first time
Planet Zoo 2 introduces one of the most important additions to the series: fully aquatic species.
You can design custom freshwater or saltwater aquariums, creating environments dedicated to fish, marine reptiles, and other animals that spend their entire lives underwater.
Featured species include animals such as the blacktip reef shark and hawksbill sea turtle, accompanied by schools of fish that make aquatic environments feel far more dynamic.
Building an aquarium involves more than placing a simple tank. You need to consider space, depth, habitat quality, and compatibility between different species while integrating these environments into the overall structure of the park.
This new animal category allows you to create completely different areas compared with traditional terrestrial habitats, greatly expanding the creative possibilities available when designing your zoo.
Build aviaries for species that can fly freely
Flying animals also make their full debut in Planet Zoo 2.
You can build customized aviaries using barriers, support posts, and dynamic mesh roofing, creating three-dimensional spaces where birds can move freely both on the ground and in the air.
Species such as the toco toucan and secretary bird display different behaviors and require habitats designed around their specific needs.
The presence of animals that truly use vertical space changes the way habitats can be designed. Height, vegetation, and the placement of environmental elements become an integral part of the structure.
You can watch animals glide, move between different sections of the aviary, and interact with an environment built specifically for them.
Aquariums and aviaries therefore add two new dimensions to zoo design, allowing you to go beyond the traditional ground-based habitat.
Take conservation into the new Wildlife Reserves
Conservation no longer ends at the boundaries of the zoo.
Planet Zoo 2 introduces Wildlife Reserves, large customizable natural areas where animals can be released after completing specific conservation projects.
These spaces allow you to create broader ecosystems that are less restricted by the traditional structure of a zoological park. You must meet certain requirements before transferring a species and ensure that the chosen environment is suitable for its survival.
Reserves can be designed and modified using dedicated vegetation, terrain, and landscape tools, allowing you to create environments that match the needs of the animals.
This system expands the player’s role: you are no longer responsible only for managing a zoo, but can also develop an international network dedicated to species protection and reintroduction.
Design every detail with expanded building tools
Creative freedom remains one of the main pillars of Planet Zoo 2.
You can use ready-made blueprints to quickly build functional structures or take advantage of the series’ piece-by-piece construction system to create fully customized buildings, decorations, and habitats.
Four new scenery themes inspired by architecture from different parts of the world are included, alongside five themes familiar to players of the first Planet Zoo.
The toolset includes scaling options, customizable colors, simplified path management, and new brushes dedicated to vegetation and terrain.
These features support both large-scale changes and highly precise adjustments.
You can therefore create a clean and functional zoo or build elaborate themed environments, architectural structures, and habitats integrated into the landscape, adapting every element to the visual identity you want for the park.
Manage animals, guests, and the economy of your park
Building an impressive zoo is only one part of the experience.
You must take care of the daily needs of animals, staff, visitors, and the park’s economy.
Well-designed habitats improve animal welfare and make the zoo more attractive to visitors. Greater guest satisfaction can increase the park’s reputation and generate revenue that can be reinvested into new areas and services.
You can build shops, facilities, and information points, placing them strategically to satisfy needs such as food, services, and educational opportunities.
Management therefore requires balancing attractions, operating costs, infrastructure, and habitat quality.
Every expansion must remain sustainable: adding new species also increases the operational demands of the park and requires careful planning of available resources.
Choose between Career, Franchise, and Sandbox
Planet Zoo 2 offers different modes designed for different management styles.
In Career mode, you can join FEN, the Fauna and Ecosystems Network, and take part in an adventure that brings you to different locations around the world. Scenarios introduce new objectives related to construction, management, and conservation projects.
Franchise mode allows you to develop a network of zoos and Wildlife Reserves and trade animals with other players, gradually building a global operation.
Players who prefer to focus mainly on creativity can use Sandbox mode, designed for experimenting with construction, habitats, and design without necessarily following traditional progression.
The Frontier Workshop further expands the possibilities by allowing you to explore and use blueprints and creations made by the community.
