Buy Metro Exodus - The Two Colonels DLC: Discover the Tragic Story of Novosibirsk and Dive into a Tense and Mysterious Adventure

Metro Exodus: The Two Colonels DLC offers a rich and detailed narrative but suffers from a short duration and an imbalance in pacing. Despite having good source material, it fails to maintain the same intensity as the original experience. However, for fans of the series, it remains an interesting addition that further deepens the Metro universe.

Metro Exodus: The Two Colonels DLC - A Deep Dive into the Heart of Radiation

Six months have passed since Artyom's adventure in the radioactive lands of Russia in Metro Exodus. This final chapter of the trilogy has managed to maintain very high standards, while introducing more open and less linear sections. Now, the excellent original experience is enriched with new additional content, The Two Colonels, which unfortunately has only partially convinced.

A Journey Through Devastated Novosibirsk

Before meeting the DLC's protagonist, Colonel Khlebnikov, it is important to explore the tragic city of Novosibirsk, filled with dried corpses and marked by death. This city, the third largest in Russia, was hit by a wave of radiation eight times higher than Moscow, making it a grave of snow and rubble populated only by ghosts and dangerous creatures.

The Graveyard

In Metro Exodus, Artyom and Colonel Miller visit Novosibirsk to retrieve a precious drug. During their journey, they encounter Kirill, a boy who initially does not trust the two Spartans. Miller listens to the story of Kirill's father, Colonel Khlebnikov, through flashbacks set a year before the main events.

An Expansion Rich in Lore

The campaign of The Two Colonels begins calmly, describing the violent decline of Novosibirsk and introducing important lore elements. We learn that the currency in Novosibirsk is the "green stuff", a medicine necessary for surviving the radiation. This detail adds depth to Dmitry Glukhovsky's post-apocalyptic imagination.

Pacing and Longevity: Weak Points

The DLC's story presents an imbalance in pacing, with an abundance of information followed by more adrenaline-pumping phases. We would have preferred a greater balance between descriptive and action phases. The most serious problem, however, is the longevity: in less than three hours, the player reaches the end credits. This short duration does not allow for a satisfactory alternation between mutant fights, shootouts, and dialogue sections.

Armament and Resources

The Two Colonels is divided into well-defined sections, with a preset arsenal for each scenario. The medkits, abundant in this DLC, make the survival component marginal. This choice reduces the tension and importance of resources, which were a crucial element aboard the Aurora.
