The Reckoning Son introduces Richard “Rick” Burton

Developed and published by Crytek, The Reckoning Son was released on May 23, 2024 as additional content for Hunt: Showdown 1896.

The main character of the pack is The Prodigal Son, directly connected to the story of Sarah Burton, known as The Prodigal Daughter.

Behind the iron mask is Richard “Rick” Burton, Sarah’s twin brother. After enlisting at a young age, Rick was declared dead and buried in the Black Hills.

Years later, he returns as a deeply changed man, without papers and accustomed to taking on jobs that require discretion, violence, and a mask behind which he can hide.

His return therefore adds a new chapter to the Burton family story and to the dark universe of Hunt.

The Prodigal Son: a new Hunter with a troubled past

The Prodigal Son is the Hunter included in the DLC.

Rick Burton lives like a man who knows there is a bullet with his name on it. Rather than fearing the reckoning, he almost seems to be waiting for it while searching for an opportunity to make amends for the mistakes he has made throughout his life.

His design combines an old military uniform with a heavy iron mask, creating an immediately recognizable appearance.

His presence is primarily narrative and cosmetic: the pack allows you to use this Hunter within the main Hunt: Showdown 1896 experience without introducing a separate campaign.

Soldier's Brother for the Drilling

Soldier's Brother is the content dedicated to the Drilling.

Its description directly connects this weapon to The Prodigal Son’s wandering life: the Drilling’s three barrels became something like a brother to Rick, always ready to support him in the most dangerous moments.

The Drilling is one of the more versatile weapons in Hunt thanks to its unusual barrel configuration.

Soldier's Brother provides a cosmetic variant thematically linked to the character’s story and allows you to maintain a consistent visual identity when using equipment associated with the DLC.

Brave Charge for the Scottfield Model 3 Swift

Brave Charge is dedicated to the Scottfield Model 3 Swift.

According to the pack’s story, this revolver was issued to Rick when he enlisted and remained with him even after his supposed death.

The weapon therefore represents both a reminder of his past mistakes and a tool with which he hopes to avoid repeating them.

The variant keeps the characteristics of the base model while adding an appearance consistent with the uniform, military background, and personality of The Prodigal Son.

Breach Blast for the Dynamite Stick

The fourth item included in the pack is Breach Blast, dedicated to the Dynamite Stick.

During the years Rick spent carrying out dirty work for others, he often had to enter places where he was not welcome. Dynamite therefore became a natural part of his equipment.

Breach Blast completes the set alongside the Hunter and the two weapons, offering a cosmetic variant of the classic explosive used during Hunts.

The DLC does not introduce a separate new consumable type: Breach Blast is tied to the existing Dynamite Stick equipment.
