Discover the origins of the war against the Locust with Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago

Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel set fourteen years before the events of the first Gears of War. Follow a young Marcus Fenix alongside Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde emerges from beneath Sera for the first time, beginning a war that will forever change the future of humanity.

The campaign combines action, tension and horror-inspired atmosphere, showing a crucial moment in the series when humanity still knows almost nothing about the enemy it is about to face.

Experience an origin story set during Emergence Day

Emergence Day marks the moment when the Locust suddenly burst from underground and devastate the cities of Sera.

Marcus and Dom are thrown into an unprecedented crisis, facing an unknown enemy while trying to survive the collapse of society.

The story explores the relationship between the two protagonists and shows the events leading up to the first game in the series, with a darker, more brutal and survival-focused tone.

Fight with the classic cover system, fully modernized

Gears of War: E-Day preserves the series’ signature third-person cover-based combat while updating it with smoother movement and greater freedom of traversal.

You can vault obstacles, move between cover and outmaneuver enemies by using verticality and tactical positioning.

Classic weapons from the series return in updated forms and are joined by new tools designed for particularly brutal close-quarters combat.

Take on Horde Siege and fight other players in Versus

In addition to the campaign, Gears of War: E-Day introduces Horde Siege, a new take on the series’ classic cooperative PvE mode.

Form a four-player squad by choosing from classes such as Assault, Marksman, Medic and Breacher, fight waves of Locust, complete shared objectives and defeat powerful bosses.

Versus modes instead offer competitive 4 vs. 4 battles across new maps, with Ranked playlists for players looking for a more demanding challenge and Social modes for more relaxed matches.

Play solo or join a squad online

The campaign can be played in single-player mode or through online co-op.

Up to four players can join through supported modes, sharing the campaign, Horde Siege and other cooperative experiences.

Cross-platform multiplayer also allows you to play with users on compatible platforms, while optional account linking can enable shared features within the supported ecosystem.

Survive more aggressive Locust and new creatures

The Locust return with a design intended to restore the sense of fear and danger associated with the earliest games in the series.

Familiar enemies are reimagined with more aggressive behavior, while new creatures and opponents further expand the variety of encounters.

Devastated environments, close-range battles and unpredictable situations strengthen the horror side of the experience, turning every encounter into a fight for survival.

Take advantage of Unreal Engine 5 and advanced PC features

Gears of War: E-Day uses Unreal Engine 5 to deliver detailed environments, advanced lighting and more spectacular battles.

The PC version supports 4K Ultra HD, HDR10, unlocked frame rates on compatible hardware, ultrawide monitors and hardware ray tracing for lighting, reflections and shadows.

Upscaling and frame generation technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and other compatible solutions are also supported, together with extensive mouse, keyboard and controller customization.
