A Fantasy Epic Where You Shape the Arisen’s Destiny

Dragon's Dogma 2 takes players into a realistic and deeply interactive fantasy world where every journey can become a different story. The protagonist is the Arisen, a chosen hero bound to the Dragon by an unavoidable destiny. Deprived of their heart and called to confront the creature, the Arisen must cross conflicting kingdoms, form alliances, and uncover the true nature of the cycle governing the world.

The narrative does not force players along a completely linear path. Quests, encounters, and consequences can change according to the decisions made, the order in which locations are visited, and the way problems are resolved. A rescued character may provide valuable assistance later, while an ignored assignment may no longer be available after enough time has passed.

The world includes the human kingdom of Vermund and the beastren nation of Battahl, two lands defined by different cultures, environments, and attitudes toward the Arisen and the Pawns. Political intrigue, ancient prophecies, and personal ambitions accompany the journey toward the confrontation with the Dragon.

The Dark Arisen edition expands this structure with new stories and encounters, providing additional reasons to return to the world or begin a completely new adventure. The expanded version is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026.

Create Your Arisen and Build a Unique Party of Pawns

Customization begins with the creation of the Arisen. Players can modify body type, facial features, height, posture, and numerous visual details, creating a protagonist that matches their personal idea of an adventurer. Physical characteristics do not affect appearance alone, as they may also influence elements such as carrying capacity, weight, and movement during exploration.

The protagonist is joined by a Main Pawn, an AI-controlled companion who follows the Arisen throughout the journey. The Main Pawn’s appearance, vocation, and inclination can also be customized. Pawns gather information about enemies, quests, and previously explored routes, using this knowledge to support the party.

The group can be completed by recruiting two additional Pawns through the Rift. These characters come from other players’ adventures and bring different abilities, equipment, and experience. A Pawn that has already completed a particular quest may suggest the correct route, while one experienced against a specific monster may reveal its weaknesses.

Party composition therefore becomes a strategic choice. A balanced team may include durable fighters, archers capable of attacking from a distance, and mages focused on healing or elemental spells. Replacing companions makes it possible to address the Arisen’s weaknesses and enter each region with a more suitable formation.

Master Physical, Dynamic, and Versatile Combat

Combat combines real-time action, physics, and cooperation with the Pawns. Every vocation uses specific weapons, abilities, and movements, creating substantially different approaches to battle. A Fighter can defend the party and draw enemy attention, while a Thief relies on speed and close-range attacks to strike vulnerable points quickly.

Archers maintain their distance and can hit targets that are difficult to approach. Mages use offensive spells, healing magic, and elemental enhancements, while advanced vocations introduce more specialized weapons and techniques. Changing vocation allows players to learn new styles and discover the combination best suited to their preferences.

Battles involve more than simply reducing an enemy’s health bar. Creatures react to weight, impact, and character positioning. Players can climb onto a cyclops, damage a griffin’s wings, knock an opponent off balance, or use the environment to gain an advantage.

Pawns act independently according to their vocation and acquired knowledge. They can heal, protect the Arisen, exploit an elemental weakness, or help the protagonist reach an elevated location. This coordination creates spectacular encounters in which even an improvised decision can change the outcome.

The system remains accessible in its basic actions while rewarding knowledge of vocations, careful equipment preparation, and observation of enemy behavior.

Face Colossal Monsters by Exploiting the Environment and Their Weaknesses

The bestiary includes goblins, saurians, undead creatures, bandits, and many monsters drawn from fantasy mythology. The most memorable threats, however, are the colossal creatures capable of turning an ordinary journey into an unpredictable battle.

Cyclopes, ogres, griffins, minotaurs, and other monsters require different strategies. A flying enemy can be forced to land by damaging its wings, while a giant can be knocked off balance by concentrating attacks on its legs. Some monsters have multiple health bars and change their behavior during different stages of the encounter.

The Arisen can climb directly onto larger enemies, consuming stamina to reach their head or other vulnerable points. This mechanic adds verticality to combat and allows close-range vocations to inflict considerable damage even against apparently unreachable targets.

The environment can become a weapon. Rocks, bridges, cliffs, water, and destructible structures can alter the course of a battle. Luring a monster into an unfavorable position may be more effective than attacking it directly, while fighting without observing the terrain can place the entire party at risk.

Encounters may also occur naturally during travel, without a clear separation between exploration and combat. A creature may attack an oxcart, interrupt a camp, or clash with another monster, generating emergent situations that make every journey less predictable.

Explore a Living World Where Travel Is Part of the Adventure

The open world is designed to make every journey meaningful. Roads connect cities, villages, ruins, caves, and outposts, but following the main route is not always the fastest or safest solution. Taking a detour may lead to treasure, side quests, and characters who would otherwise remain undiscovered.

The day-and-night cycle profoundly changes exploration. After sunset, visibility decreases and more dangerous creatures appear. A lantern becomes essential, but its oil is limited. Planning a journey therefore requires players to consider distance, available resources, and the possibility of reaching a campsite.

Resting allows the party to recover lost maximum health, cook ingredients, and prepare for the next stage of the journey. Camps may still be interrupted by attacks, especially when the surrounding area has not been secured. Even a simple stop therefore requires caution.

Fast travel is limited and depends on specific resources or oxcarts. Travelling by cart allows players to cover long distances, but the vehicle may be attacked or destroyed. This design choice rewards familiarity with the map and makes travel an important part of progression.

Physics and artificial intelligence contribute to events that are not rigidly scripted. Pawns, inhabitants, animals, and monsters can interact in different ways, creating stories that emerge directly from the player’s actions.

Choose Your Vocations and Completely Transform Your Playstyle

Vocations determine weapons, abilities, and combat roles. Starting classes allow players to experiment with close-range combat, ranged attacks, and magic, while advanced and hybrid vocations introduce more complex techniques.

The Warrior uses heavy weapons and delivers devastating strikes, while the Sorcerer prepares powerful spells capable of transforming the entire battlefield. The Mystic Spearhand combines physical action with magical powers, the Magick Archer uses enchanted arrows, and the Trickster manipulates enemies through illusions and tactical support.

The Warfarer is a highly versatile vocation reserved for the Arisen. It allows the use of multiple weapons and the combination of abilities from different classes, offering considerable freedom in exchange for reduced specialization. Its effectiveness depends on the player’s ability to create a coherent setup.

Defeating enemies and completing activities increases vocation rank, unlocking new active skills and passive enhancements. Certain improvements remain available even after changing class, encouraging experimentation before selecting a final configuration.

The choice is not permanent. Both the Arisen and the Main Pawn can change vocation at dedicated facilities, adapting to new regions or bosses. This flexibility increases replayability and allows the same situation to be approached with completely different strategies.

Everything Included in the Dark Arisen Edition

This version is designed to provide a more complete package than the base game alone. The Steam edition indicated for Dark Arisen brings together the main adventure, the new expansion, and two previously released additional content packs.

The package includes:

  • Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Expansion
  • Dragon's Dogma Music & Sound Collection - Custom Sounds
  • Explorer's Camping Kit - Camping Gear
  • Digital Steam license for PC
  • EUROPE activation region
  • Single-player mode
  • Pawn system with online functionality
  • Italian interface and subtitles
  • Compatible Steam achievements and features

Music & Sound Collection allows certain tracks and sound effects to be replaced with elements inspired by the first Dragon's Dogma. Explorer's Camping Kit adds a special camping kit that is more efficient and lighter than many alternatives available during the adventure.

The central component remains the Dark Arisen Expansion. At the time of the announcement, new stories and encounters had been confirmed, but complete details about locations, enemies, vocations, and duration had not yet been disclosed. This description therefore avoids attributing unconfirmed content to the expansion.

The base game is included in the indicated package and does not need to be purchased separately. It is still important to verify the exact contents listed in the commercial offer before completing the order.

Dark Arisen Expands the Journey with New Stories and Encounters

The expansion is designed to enrich the world and adventures of the second chapter. The available official information describes new stories and encounters while preserving the free exploration, dynamic combat, and Pawn cooperation that define the main game.

The new experience is intended both for players who have already completed the campaign and for those approaching the series for the first time through the complete package. Veterans can return to their Arisen and explore additional content, while new players can experience the main adventure before entering the expansion.

The Dark Arisen name recalls the expansion that enriched the first game, but this version belongs specifically to Dragon's Dogma 2. It should not be confused with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, which was originally released for PC in 2016.

The European release is scheduled for October 2026. Before the official unlock, the product may be registered as a preorder but will not yet be playable. Any preorder bonuses depend on the individual offer and should be considered included only when explicitly stated by the seller.
