Borderlands 4 Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned is the first post-launch Story Pack for Borderlands 4.

A mysterious cosmic entity threatens Kairos and drags the planet into a new form of madness. Join Ellie, the famous mechanic and Moxxi’s daughter, on a mission to destroy an alien monolith and reach the cursed Vault of the Damned.

The DLC combines the classic Borderlands looter-shooter gameplay with a darker atmosphere, cosmic horror elements, and a new frozen region to explore.

Explore the frozen wastes of The Whispering Glacier

The main addition of the Story Pack is The Whispering Glacier, a brand-new explorable area.

The region features frozen wastelands, abandoned spacecraft wrecks, and secrets hidden among ruins and hostile landscapes.

The area introduces:

• New story missions
• Side missions
• Additional activities
• New collectibles
• New enemies
• Dedicated bosses and minibosses

Exploration becomes an important part of the expansion, with hidden rewards and new opportunities to improve your equipment.

Fight a new threat from the cosmos

An incomprehensible alien presence looms over Kairos and influences everything it encounters.

During the adventure, you will fight the DAHL Legion alongside Kraggons, Scavs, and other hostile creatures connected to the events of the Story Pack.

The atmosphere moves away from the more traditional settings of the series and introduces cosmic horror elements, unsettling creatures, and unexplained phenomena surrounding the search for the Vault.

Face new bosses and thirteen minibosses

Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned significantly expands the challenges available in Borderlands 4.

The DLC introduces:

• 2 new main bosses
• 13 new minibosses

These enemies can become important targets for players who enjoy farming and searching for rare equipment.

Repeating encounters and experimenting with different builds can increase your chances of obtaining some of the new rewards introduced in the pack.

Obtain new Pearlescent weapons and Legendary gear

The Story Pack adds a new selection of rewards for Vault Hunters.

The new loot includes:

• 3 new Pearlescent weapons
• 18 new Legendary items
• 6 new Legendary Class Mods

Pearlescent weapons are among the rarest rewards in the content, while the new Class Mods make it possible to further develop builds for the available Vault Hunters.

Boss and miniboss farming therefore becomes a central part of the DLC’s endgame experience.

Fight alongside Ellie and meet Mancubus Bloodtooth

Ellie plays a central role in the new story and accompanies the player in the search for the alien monolith and the Vault of the Damned.

Mancubus Bloodtooth also appears during the journey, a character already familiar to fans of the series and especially well suited to the supernatural atmosphere of the Story Pack.

The combination of Borderlands’ signature humor and cosmic horror gives the DLC a distinct identity compared with the main campaign.

Customize your Vault Hunter with new cosmetics

In addition to weapons and equipment, the DLC adds several cosmetic items.

It includes:

• 2 Vault Hunter Heads usable by compatible Vault Hunters
• 4 Vault Hunter Skins
• 6 Weapon Skins
• 4 Vehicle Skins
• 3 ECHO-4 Drone Skins and Attachments
• 1 ECHO-4 Frame

These items allow you to customize characters, weapons, vehicles, and the ECHO-4 drone with content inspired by the new Story Pack.

Start the DLC directly with a level 13 Vault Hunter

The content is recommended for Vault Hunters at level 13 or higher.

To normally reach The Whispering Glacier, you must complete the “A Lot to Process” mission in the Fadefields region.

Alternatively, you can create a new Vault Hunter configured to start Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned directly at level 13.

This option allows you to access the new campaign quickly without replaying the entire early progression of the base game.

Continue the adventure alone or in co-op

The DLC retains the main multiplayer features of Borderlands 4.

You can explore the new region and complete missions in single-player mode or join other players through online co-op.

Cross-platform support also allows players on compatible platforms to play together, making it easier to form a group for bosses and activities.

Important: C4SH is not included in this standalone DLC

Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned can be purchased separately as a Story Pack.

The additional Vault Hunter C4SH the Rogue is not included in this standalone version of the DLC and is available separately.

To obtain both Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned and C4SH, you need a package that includes both pieces of content.

The Borderlands 4 base game is also required to use this DLC.
