The Last Hope of the Smoldering City

The old world has been destroyed by the Blightstorm, a recurring storm capable of wiping out entire cities. The Smoldering City is civilization’s last refuge and depends on expeditions sent into the wilderness to recover resources, riches and lost knowledge.

As the Viceroy of the Scorched Queen, you must establish new settlements and complete assigned objectives before the ruler’s Impatience reaches its limit. Each colony features different resources, environmental conditions and challenges.

City Builder and Roguelite in an Ever-Changing Formula

Urban management combines with a roguelite structure designed to make every game unpredictable. Maps, building blueprints, events, modifiers and resources change between expeditions, preventing you from relying on the same strategy every time.

During construction, you will not immediately have access to every building. You must select new blueprints from limited options and adapt your production chains to the structures you obtain.

Even a failed expedition contributes to overall progression. Recovered resources can be used to improve the Smoldering City, unlock permanent advantages and expand the possibilities available in future campaigns.

Seven Species with Different Needs and Abilities

Humans, Beavers, Lizards, Harpies and Foxes form the population of the base game. The two expansions add Frogs and Bats, increasing the total number of available species to seven.

Each species has specific food preferences, production specializations and needs. Some inhabitants work more efficiently with certain materials, while others are better able to withstand the hostile conditions of the forest.

You must provide housing, food, services and luxury goods to increase Resolve. Favoring one species can accelerate progress toward your objectives, but neglecting the others may cause inhabitants to leave and reduce your workforce.

Nightwatchers introduces Bats, a strict and resilient species particularly skilled in metallurgy. Their characteristics support strategies focused on metalworking, productivity and disciplined population management.

Rocky Ravine features territories rich in stone and minerals but poor in wood, forcing you to develop alternative economies. Bamboo Flats revolves around unique environmental mechanics and requires efficient use of the available resources.

The DLC also adds new world events, modifiers, buildings and Cornerstones, providing additional combinations for more advanced campaigns.

Production, Trade and Decisions Under Pressure

Each settlement must transform raw materials into food, construction supplies, tools and advanced goods. Buildings have different efficiency levels, meaning the same resource may require different quantities and production times depending on the structure used.

Trading allows you to sell surplus goods and purchase resources your colony lacks. Spending too much may slow down development, while storing unused goods can prevent you from completing urgent objectives.

Opening glades hidden within the forest can reveal treasures, new inhabitants and raw materials, but it may also release dangerous events. Preparation and inventory management are therefore essential.
