The old world has been destroyed by the Blightstorm, and the Smoldering City is the last remaining refuge of civilization. As the Viceroy of the Scorched Queen, you must reclaim the wilderness, recover lost riches and establish settlements capable of resisting the storms.

Unlike traditional city builders, the objective is not to create a single city designed to last forever. Each expedition leads to the construction of new settlements, while resources, experience and upgrades are retained between cycles. This structure creates a dynamic campaign in which every failure contributes to your overall progression.

City Builder and Roguelite in One Experience

Settlement management requires you to balance production, trade, housing, food and morale. Weather conditions change the pace of each game, while the forest hides valuable resources, ancient threats and events capable of disrupting your plans.

Every map features different combinations of biomes, modifiers, building blueprints and bonuses. You cannot rely on the same strategy every time: you must adapt to the available resources, the Queen’s demands and the characteristics of the species assigned to your expedition.

The roguelite progression system increases replayability, as the improvements obtained in the Smoldering City unlock new possibilities for future campaigns.

Different Species with Unique Needs and Abilities

Humans, Beavers, Lizards, Foxes and Harpies have different specializations, preferences and requirements. Some inhabitants are more efficient at production, while others tolerate specific environments more effectively or require certain foods, services and goods to maintain high morale.

You must decide whether to distribute resources evenly or favor a particular species to complete objectives more quickly. Managing Resolve becomes essential when conditions deteriorate and the Queen’s Impatience continues to rise.

The DLC adds the Coastal Grove and Ashen Thicket biomes. In the first, you can organize water expeditions through the Strider Port, while the second allows you to extract Thunderblight Shards and create customized Cornerstones.

New orders, perks, upgrade-tree rewards and musical tracks dedicated to the additional environments are also included.

Nightwatchers Introduces Bats and Hostile Lands

Nightwatchers adds Bats, a strict species specialized in metallurgy. Their abilities support strategies based on mining, discipline and difficult decisions made for the good of the entire settlement.

Rocky Ravine is a territory with limited wood but abundant stone and minerals, where the black market plays an important role. Bamboo Flats offers fertile land only through the Fluffbeak, a creature that must be fed and protected to produce fertilizer.

The expansion also includes new world events, modifiers, deeds, decorations, Cornerstones and musical tracks.

Production, Trade and Decisions Under Pressure

Every settlement must develop production chains capable of transforming raw materials into food, construction supplies, tools and luxury goods. The available blueprints change during each game, making it necessary to build your economy around the options you receive.

Traders can provide missing resources or decisive advantages, but spending too much may compromise future development. Exploring glades also requires caution: opening new areas can reveal materials and opportunities, but it may also release threats that are difficult to control.

This combination of planning and unpredictability makes every expedition different and rewards the ability to react quickly.
